Disc golf sound good?
Maybe we could do this at the course at near Lehigh U. We could do our usual cook out. Or, Starter's Pub is close by as is the Bethlehem Brew Works.
Whatcha think? Maybe some time in the later part of August?

Trust me, if you were here that night, you'd be doing numbers 3 and 5 alright. How about it Matt? It was fun but it was a long day. Got any weekends off in August? If you want to come to this meet post your days off and we'll see what we can do. TGO, are there any particular weekend that works best for you? Aaron, where are you? Can you make this one? I'm even making it close for you.

I only have the 25th available in August . Though I doubt I'll be at this job at that point.
But like I said, if it isn't good for you guys to wait for me, then go right ahead without me. I won't have any hard feelings.

Nah, I'll take the 27th off anyway. I have 5 vacation days left this year. So, one for the 27th isn't a big deal.

It's hysterical. You have to play, that's the fun of it.
Here are some highlights from previous games: One person fell in the mud while jumping over a puddle, my husband hit a tree with Allen's frisbee and broke it, Doug got his frisbee stuck in some bushes and it took us at least a half hour to find it. Doug has a frisbee that flashes now so he can't lose it. We do nothing but laugh.
The 26th it is then. Who else is coming? What do you guys prefer, cook out or restaurant?

The 26th is too late for me, I have to go back to school that weekend. Any other weekend before then would be fine, I could request it off, it is almost never a problem.

What, you didn't like my commentary of the rear conversion? The 12th and the 19th are free for me. It would be nice if Glenn could come though.

Haha of course, the drinking part is always a good plus. I guess during some other part we could do a mini meet or something too. This time I'm getting a cheap hotel room and not trying to do that drive twice the same day.

The 26th should work for me. The only problem is that I work weekends, but if we decide on a day soon I can ask to have off that day. I just have to give my boss advanced notice and it shouldn't be a problem. Location sounds good as well. -Aaron

She thought it was funny. We'll be grillin', and chillin' but I don't think beer is allowed at the parks, State parks anyway. I'll swing by this place and see what their rules are to be sure.

The 26th looks best for me at this point. Got my nephews coming up from NC on the 12th and some tentative plans for the 19 at this time.

I'm closer than TGO by about 40 mins and have pretty much all of the tools except a cherry picker. I figure if its a replace a clutch meet, then the meet would need to start early on a Saturday and if for some reason its not completed, finish it Sunday. Plenty of room here, plus there are a bunch of hotels around. I've been in Linden for 13 months now, time to host a meet! My only problem is I can't have anyone come over until Sept, since I am in 2 weddings and going away for 12 days.

I have to show my face every so often. Hell, I doubt any of you have met me other than Allen and Chris.
As for the clutch, it all depends on how you drive. How badly is it slipping?

It hasn't done it since...so I don't know what's up with it. I tried my own make shift test, and it popped and stalled out instead of accelerating. So I guess it's still good for now. Though I don't know what the clunking was.

The 26th of August is a Saturday. Your school starts on Sunday? lol. I start school on the 28th.
We'll have to keep the bday meet in mind. Could be fun.

Disc Golf meet The meet is on a Saturday and there is no school on Sunday, that means you can come Scott. It is a disc golf meet Aaron. Is it decided that we are having a clutch install meet? Sorry, I'm too tired to go back through and see what is going on.

It hasn't acted up on me since then, but occasionally the tranny still makes the clunk noise if I'm sitting still. It's probably just bad mounts if anything.

Sorry, I meant at another time for a clutch meet. The 26th is for disc golf. Promise. No bleeding.
True, there are too many Chris' here. That's one reason why I listed my name as Christine, the other being I didn't want ya'll thinking I was a guy. Just call me Phil.
Does 11-12 o'clock sound like an OK time for the meet?
Allen and Paul, are you guys coming?
So far: Chris Chris Glenn Aaron Scott (cuz there is no school the next day) Brian Jason (?)

I will also bring snacks (chips/pretzels). Can bring more if needed. Possibly soda, unless someone else wants to bring them. We can probably have more than one person bring drinks. oh yeah i forgot you guys are bent on doing this disc golf stuff.
what ever happened to an old fashioned bbq??
or can't we play then go somewhere and cook/eat??
i mean if you can't drink in the park, that's a recipe for disaster right there.

okay kids! Here the deal. Right now I'm waiting on end links and struts. I work right up until monday. This Saturday I only work till noon but I'm up at 430. So hopefully I can rebound and get work done. I do not want my maiden voyage to be out on this trip to disc golf. My place finding ability usually ends with me turning around at Jersey and find my way back from the border. So I'd rather not go out without an alignment and an untested car. So given that the struts and end links get here on time, and I can get into a shop and get an alignment. I will be there on saturday. No guarantee.

You cannot have alcoholic beverages in state parks in PA . It's pretty cut & dry . It's not really about having a party anyways , it's about the friendship ... the people (and their cars , of course ) . Our local meets usually go off without a hitch , and are pretty fun - all without alcohol . Unless you feel the only way to put up with us is to have a good buzz goin' ??
The rest of us ---->
Disc golf is a blast , even if you suck at throwin' a frisbee ... like ME !
Seriously , if you can make it , that'd be great . We'd love to have ya there . If not , we won't hold it against you ... maybe you can make the NEXT one .

Well TGO... don't come then?
I sat here and watched you badmouth the disc golf and all I gotta say is if you don't want to come and all you want to do is drink, stay home. You must have missed the other half dozen meets we had playing disc golf and had a blast. Its ALWAYS a good time, regardless of how we play... or if there are booze. There may be some drinking afterwards, but remember we all have to drive home.
Sorry, but thats my 2+ cents.
If I am not at the beach, I will be there.

Chris, we do have a good time. We would like it if you came but as was posted before, there is no alcohol allowed in the park. I posted earlier in this thread about having a cookout or going to a restaurant and nothing was said. A cookout, as we normally do, was the direction I chose to take. It's worked well before and I assumed since no one spoke up that they would like to continue the tradition. Again, we'd love for you to come but if you choose not too, we'll understand. Doug, hope you still have the flashing frisbee. Now, that was a fun time, being in the bushes for a half hour trying to find your frisbee.

There may be some drinking afterwards, but remember we all have to drive home.
Sorry, but thats my 2+ cents.
If I am not at the beach, I will be there.
I am not badmouthing anything or anyone. Relax.
Yes i did miss the other half of your meets.
I do not wish to only drink. It was my understanding we would meet up for a game of disc golf, and then go somewhere and have a BBQ of sorts.
I simply said i would sit through the disc golf...there's no reason for you guys not to do it because of one person.
I'm sorry if i offended you in some way, but i don't see why you would take my not being enthusiastic about a sport you enjoy, personally.
And to be prefectly honest i am nursing a nagging back injury. I don't need to be crippled the day after the meet.
I guess if you guys decide sometime to chill, chat, wrench on the cars some (no tranny swaps though!), cook and have some brews...then let me know. In the meantime, i'm sorry i wasted anyones time.

I will take the blame for your misunderstanding. True, you haven't been to any of our meets so you wouldn't have known that we cook at the park. You did not offend me at all. Honestly, I don't play disc golf because I had four shoulder surgeries but I still have a blast. So, if you choose not to play you wouldn't be alone. My husband blasted Allen's disc into a tree and it broke into pieces, Doug lost his frisbee in some bushes, it took a while to find it. The whole time we were looking for the frisbee we were laughing our [censored] off, one fell into a puddle of mud (she thought it was funny), etc. I have a great time just walking though the woods and watching (that didn't sound right ). Maybe it doesn't seem funny to you reading what I wrote but let me tell you...it's funny as [censored] You didn't waste anyone's time. We do want you to come, but it's up to you.

Rofl, Its not even a sport that I personally am good at. Its okay as a sport, but its kinda idiotic for you to be so hard up against playing it when we've done this before and everyone that had reservations about it had fun.
Anyways, show up if you want.

I thought it would be boring also. But, it's so much fun and I don't even play!
Glenn, it will be interesting. Trust me, you'll want to play again.

ditto...everyone might want to wear helmets if I play.
And for TGO, it sucks on the net because 70% of the time you can't gauge the attitude of the person just from their words. I'm glad we sorted that mess out though. You guys (& luca ) were making me nervous.

sport, game, whatever you wanna call it man.
i guess since it's golf it doesn't actually involve any running around, but still I'm telling you i'll be bored with it.
Again, it's not an attack against you or the activity...it is simply that in general I do not participate in these sorts of things. I simply don't enjoy it. I don't want to be bored, and I don't want to bring anyone else down with me. I don't wanna be the fifth wheel. I don't see how that's idiotic.
In past meets i've been to, we hang out, eat, drink, tweak and talk cars. I've helped people install all kinds of stuff on their cars at our local meets. Once I went with some neco peeps to a place with a sick indoor go cart course. We bowled too, but that was meh. Still, the basic principles of a car meet came into play. Atleast the ones i enjoy. Even when i would go to Long Island every week - we'd meet up at a decent sized local car show, shoot the breeze, grab a bite...play some games in the arcade etc. If disc golf is going to be the main activity for the day, i'm sorry it just doesn't do it for me.
I will still consider, but i guess for now i am going to say no.
But whatever, i really need to go to bed now.

LOL! Don't be nervous Scott. No need for helmets, Doug and I know how to duck. Remember French Creek Doug? The basic principles of a car meet do come into play. We spend quite a bit of time looking at the cars, helping people solve their issues, talking about the cars and even while we are cooking we are still talking about/looking at the cars. Disc golf isn't the main activity, the cars are. We just happen to like to throw in a game while we are there. Plus, we like getting together and just shooting the [censored]. If you think you'll be bored, we understand.

TGO - no hard feelings from me at all ... don't worry . I only wanted to clarify .
I just noticed that it hasn't been mentioned to the "newbies" to the frisbee golf meets yet - if you haven't done it yet ... BUY A FRISBEE ! It doen't have to be a special disc-golf approved frisbee to have a good time . Just go down to your local K-mart & buy a good , cheap frisbee - it'll be good enough . I may have a couple loaners with me , but my supply of loaners is dwindling .

LMAO!
I have Cain's brownie recipe if you want it.
Here is an updated list:
Christine + 1- plates/napkins, onions, condiments, hot dogs, rolls
Glenn- hamburger buns and soda
Aaron + 1---Chips/pretzels
Scott (cuz there is no school the next day)
Brian--burgers
Allen + 1--world famous pasta salad, charcoal, foil
Paul + 1---dessert of the homemade type
Scott + 2---water
14 people.
I originally said the time would be between 11 and 12. So, will 11:30 work for everyone?

LMAO! We're your friends silly.
OK, here's the deal...there is a problem, no pavillions are available at the park. We can still play disc golf, just can't have a cookout at the park.
What I want to know is this, did anyone buy any food/drinks yet?? If so, we can cookout at my house. If not, we can hit up a restuarant. We can still meet at the park first and then eat.
It's your choice, let me know what you want to do.
I didn't see any signs stating that you had to reserve pavillions the first time I was at the park, but saw that a pavillion had a reserved sign the second time I was there. I looked at the top of the pavillion and there was the sign with the phone number. Sorry!!

At this point it looks like we are going to a restaurant.
How does this place look? Starters Pub
Starters Sports Bar and Grille
3731 Route 378
Bethlehem, PA
OR:
Bethlehem Brew Works
569 Main Street
Bethlehem
(at the corner of Broad and Main)
The only problem with the Brew Works is getting there without loosing people. Not a lot of places to pull over to wait until everyone catches up.
Starter's, on the other hand, is literally three left hand turns away from the disc golf course.
Comments/suggestions?

Scott, I still can't believe you drove right past the theater and ended up at the Jersey border. LMAO! Anyone one else have a preference? I'll call the Pub and see about a reservation. We'll meet there at 11:30 then if it's OK with everyone. Probably better to eat first and then get dirty playing disc golf.

Yeah I'm gonna be out on this one. My car is total in [censored] ville right now. I started assembling the front strut to put it back in. And The front strut bearing sounds like sand paper. I'm going to advanced this after noon to order a set and to pick up a tie rod/ball bearing Remover Tool. Not to mention I have no freakin clue if the CV joint is back in or not. I got it go inward. but The boot still seems semi extended. I even had the directions printed already. I was really set to drive out to jersey and turn around to find my way to disc golf Saturday.

LOL! OK, maybe. Still I helped to steer the direction away from the original topic.
Back OT: we'll meet at Starter's at 11:30. I did make the reservation for 14 so we are good to go! I told the lady that we would be coming in at 12:15. We usually hang out in the parking lot for a bit anyway so that will give everyone time to get here and time for checking out the rides.

LMAO! No, not us.
If you arrive early at Starter's look for the grey Mustang GT in the lot, you can park next to it. They're with us so feel free to introduce yourselves to Scott, Michelle and Carissa.
See you tomorrow! Drive safe everyone!

Or today rather.
I call my E0 Claire.
24 hour what?
I'm looking to buy a like-new condition SVT grill, and a shift knob that works with the reverse lever PM me with the details.

Wanna see MY pics from the meet ?? Ya know you do ! Well , I could hook you up ... if I wanted to . Perhaps I could be swayed into posting the link if I was in a good mood . I could post the pics ... ah , what the heck ... CHECK 'EM OUT !
Thanks a million to Christine & Ken for having us back to their house , due to the rain ruining our Disc-Golf plans . Thanks also for busting out the good food spread for dinner (thanks go out to Brian too ) - it was delicious ! It was great seeing everyone & meeting the newbies . More great peeps for our "core group" of Contique nuts . I'm looking forward to out NEXT meet !

Thanks to everyone for making me feel more than welcome at the meet. I guess we'll have to do disc-golf some other time, bu the rain couldn't stop us from having fun anyway. Thanks to Christine & Ken for organizing the meet and being great hosts. Thanks also go out to Chris, Ken and Brian for making a delicious dinner. The pictures look great! Thanks again everyone. P.S. the sails are on!

Envious. I was going to show up unannounced, but my car had other plans.. Don't know if it's ever going to see a PA meet honestly.

I thought everyone had a nice ride. Bummer about your car Bill. It would have been great to see you, even better for you to show up without us knowing. Glad you all had a good time!
