as most of you know, i have an old oil tank in my backyard.
it has about 6" of kerosene in it.
well, i need to get rid of it ASAP.
so i looked online and found a place that removes tanks.
i called the guy and told him the situation.
he told me it was $325 to remove it.
so they are coming Saturday to remove it.
i think that's a great price, since most oil companies charge about $600 to remove a tank.
weeeee

ok pointless post, but i am stoked to get rid of this tank finally!

that is definitely a sweet price!

When we moved from the apartment, we still had a ton of oil in the tank, so we were trying to find ways to get it removed and transfered to our house or sold off.
Major pain in the ass trying to find anyone that was willing to do it, and turns out the price just wasn't worth it, so we ate it.
The landlords were jerks for not reimbursing us for it and then charging the new tenant for the oil.
They said "it's not our fault you filled the tank and didn't use it before moving"
bleh

the drive-thru garage is most likely a year or so off.
but this is the first step.
then comes the demolition of the shed attached to the garage.

i am just happy that it will be gone. hate the looks of it, and the fact that the oil is seeping thru the tank scares me.
especially on these dry hot days!
one little spark and BOOM!!!
well...that would be one way to get rid of the shed!
hahah

kim, the only way you guys could have saved money moving the oil would have been to pump it our yourselves into gas jugs and transferred it about 30 gallons at a time.

I thought you were having a party Saturday? You could throw your empties in the hole where the tank was.

yup.
i thought about removing it myself and bringing it to the scrapyard.
but i didnt want to deal with trying to pump it dry and removing all the sludge.

so if they come in, drain it, and take it away i will be a very happy person.
