As some of you may have seen on the main trouble shooting board, I have had a stalling/hesitation problem with my 99 SE Contour. I've decided to get a new car, but I'm not sure if I should trade it in (and try to get $1500+ for it from the dealer, who I will not tell about the problem) or privately sell. Like I said in my post on that board, the stalling is back to being intermittent and I've driven it all around the region in the last couple of weeks, but there's no clear answer as to what the problem is, so instead of put more money into it and go on a fact finding mission or wait for the problem to worsen again, I'm done.

What do you guys think in terms of what it would be worth on a trade vs private sale?

It's a 99 SE; no mods; t-red; 122,850 miles; very good mechanical condition (other than this stalling); body is very good (a few scratches on the bumpers from the dumb dealer tech who was doing test drives while they were trying to find the stalling problem); interior is also very good (dash is fine with the dealer fix, which was done in '02). To my knowledge, I am the first private owner; I bought it in June '00 as a program car from a dealer in NY when it had 19,720 on it. My miles are mostly highway going b/w DC and NY and then commuting into DC.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great and much appreciated. Thanks!

To check the fuel pressure? Yes. All of that was working fine. The codes that kept popping up (and unfortunately, I don't have that with me here) were all related to the anti-polution controls. We replaced the PCV last November, but that didn't help it either.

You need to scan and post the exact codes in Troubleshooting.

As for the price, go to www.edmunds.com, plug in the numbers for your vehicle and it will show how much it is worth (both for private sale and trade-in).
