i read several threads about clutch chatter and gear rollover noise. i have stock clutch about 65k. its been slipping a bit for maybe 10-15k. over the last week, i've heard a noise at low rpm, probably never above 1250. to me it sounds like a rattling license plate. my brother said it was a bit deeper sounding. i can make the noise while working the clutch (engaging and disengaging like when i first or second) and gassing a bit. but i can also do it in neutral when gassing a bit. i got it to do it in 3rd today while below 1250ish and didnt try to put it in 4th or 5th. as soon as the rpms go up, the sound stops completely, in gear or not. i have no trouble getting into any gear. i've done a tranny fluid flush several times since about 20k. just completed flush to RP maybe a few weeks ago from mtl. any guesses? sound is definitely coming from the tranny area. pretty sure its not from the engine...sounds to be below the intake and behind the brakes.

would that then create a noise only at low rpm. like i said if it goes above like 1250 the noise stops immediately. whats happening inside the tranny when the car is idling? if its in neutral and i give it gas it'll make the noise then stop when i go above 1250. i wanna say the noise is slightly louder when its in gear and i'm working the clutch but i dont recall if this would be an accurate statement.
what do u mean by finger going poop? like it broke off? or got bent? the pressure plate pushes the clutch disc against the flywheel, right?

so the noise happens even without pressing the clutch pedal or gas pedal. when i start my car the rpms are higher and as they comes down and hit 1250-1000 it makes that noise. i'm gonna put the car up on ramps maybe monday to track down the noise, but seems to come from the tranny area. any ideas? i still would describe it as sounding like a an annoying rattling license plate. any ideas?

Heat shield for precat or main cat. Mine was the heat shield for the main cat. It would have this metallic (dink, dink, dink, dink) sound during the first 15 to 20 seconds of starting.
