I'm trying to finish my interior lighting make-over and I need to switch out the map lights and vanity lights.

Does anyone know the bulb #'s for these two:

Sylvania shows 64111 for the map light. But all I've seen is Osram replacements for 64111. Is there another bulb # (more common bulb #)that will work for this? I'm having a heck of a time finding this bulb # in the aftermarket brand that I want.

Also, I cannot find a source that gives the bulb # for the vanity mirror. Anyone know?

P.S. Here is a pic of the bulbs if it helps at all.
Thanks

I don't know the number but if I wanted to find out, I'd go to Wal-mart and use their little inventory device in the auto lighting aisle.

I dont think the wal-mart by me has that. Pep Boys I believe does. But I dont know if the computer thing goes into that much detail and lists the map light and vanity light.

Any one know what these are for sure?

Is 194 the general consensus for the vanity?

Wow, teamSVTour, me and you are working on the same thing right now. I'm trying to find out all the different models of the interior and exterior bulbs, and then try to match up with aftermarket white bulbs.

My head hurts right now from trying to figure it out because I've also been researching on bulbs for the gauge cluster and HVAC panel. I ordered those in red already in a few different types to see which ones are the brightest for my modified gauges.

I have indiglo gauges, HVAC and HL so I have those covered. And I have the 2 license plate, trunk light and dome light (used the license plate bulb, just needs to be modified a bit) done w/ Polarg's, they look great. I'm trying to do everything w/ Polarg's

Now all I need to change are the reverse lights (1156's), courtesy lights (168's).

And...the vanity lights (which so far from the replies may be #194) and map lights.

If you can find and verify these two out (vanity and map) please post and let me know

EDIT: I think the map light is referred to what alot of companies market as "city lights". So those may work. I have seen dimensions of some companies bulbs and they are 1 inch long, have the pins on the side to twist into the socket and have one terminal on the base which the map light aslo has. Looks light a correct fit.

This may be a little confusing but see if you follow me:
From a couple websites I was on, the 194 looks to measure a hair under 1 inch at .95 . I measured the vanity light and it is like exactly 3/4 of an inch so I don't think the 194 would work. The 194's base is probably too big.

Next I found that it also looks like some sites have the 194 and the 168 under the same classification and being able to be replaced by the same bulb.

So now I am looking at the 168 (courtesy light and it measures .95 inches which looks to fit the 194 or 168) and the vanity right (.75 inches) beside eachother and the courtesy is clearly bigger. Bigger bulb and bigger base. So the vanity cannot be either the 168 or the 194.

The search continues

Vanity bulbs, I will confirm tomorrow. Map light, I pulled from my parts car yesterday and was looking at it, trying to figure out which one. I'll let you know if I find it. I'm trying to compile a complete list before I start ordering 1 bulb here, another bulb there, etc.

Alright, I did some searching around. You are right about the vanity mirror not being the 194/168 bulb.

They have to be a #74 type bulb. Online comparing the 168/194 to the 74, the 168/194 has a larger base and top to it. The 74 is not as round at the top and a small base.

I know because the HVAC panel uses a 168/194, and gauge cluster uses a 74 as I found taking the bulbs out 2 days ago. I just ordered both of those bulbs in red incandesant and red LED types to find out which one will be brighter and appear more red.

194/168

74

After alot of searching, it appears Polarg does not make a 74 bulbs. You will have to find anothing brand for the 74. I think I may leave the vanity mirror bulbs stock. I think aftermarket would blind someone trying to look in the mirror.

Ok, after tons of searching and cross referencing, I found the Polarg equivalent to the 64111. First off; how I found out. Searching for the 64111 bulb turned up alot of sites showing the Osram bulb, and a bunch of sites listed the bulb size and base type, which is T2 3/4 (or T2.75) and a BA9S base. Going to superlumination.com, they sell a BA9S base LED bulb for 12v applications. I searched further using the bulb application numbers listed on there website which said
Quote:

1895 ba9s bayonet base bulb = 53, 57, 182, 257, 363, 1445, 6253

So then searching for 1895 bulb in Polarg turned up 2 choices.

Polarg L05 and M17.

Now, I would stay away from the M17 for the following reason. It listed 1895 for types it will fit but.....the bulb is a 8 watt bulb. Our factory 64111 is 5W and the backing to our map light housing has 6W stamped on it. So I would not go any higher than 6W to prevent burning wires or the plastic lens.

The L05 is perfect for this application though. Same coloring as the M17 but only 4 watts. The end of the bulb is designed different too. It has a convex lens to direct all light straight out forward from the bulb. Perfect for a map light. It says it outputs light 3 times stronger than standard applications.

Both give off the same white light too.

Pictures of both below.

L-05
