I am looking for a cheap but good/reliable subwoofer/amp setup for my rear deck. I heard the Kicker Comp VRs were good, I am looking for a 8 inch subwoofer and maybe a 100 watt amp.
Also would it be ok to mount the amp upside down?
Thanks in advance.

One word: Search

Sorry, I'm not much of a search Nazi.

If you want a cheap setup, free air is the way to go. Lots of discussion on it and plenty of options for subs and amps combos, you just have to make sure it fits.

1 word EBAY. 2 more words 25 bucks. oh yeah and upside down amp, for 15 bucks why not LOL. But the Audio Gurus will tell you its a bad idea because heat rises.

I did search can't find any good free airs and I heard as long as the amp can breathe I can mount it any way I want.

no . heat does in fact rise and an upside down amp will fail prematurly . if i wanted to spell i'd go back to class/lol.

ebay is your best bet. you and get a 8" sub and box and amp for $65 bucks or less. thats the cheapest way i know. then again i only listen to ppi these days so . lol good luck.

Maybe look into these kinda systems, not too terribly loud at all, but, you might be happy with buying something like this UMMMM? Im just thinkin bout the "cheap aspect and that you want an 8 inch......step up to a 10 and you will be happier.....again i dont know what your budget is I can do alot better for ya if ya want me to look for something for you with a lil more characteristics...... THESE go for around 25 to 35 look for another auction of THESE

I have a friend who has 2 Kicker 8" in his Ranger, and they sound pretty nice, however they are older and less powerful then the VR's, and he has 250 wats powering.

If i were you, i would go with Kicker solo barac, no matter what size, you most likely will overpower any other sub up to one or two sizes bigger, however these arnt the cheapest

I am very happy with my Infinity Basslink X

Just enough punch, not overpowering to the point that your trunk lid makes that annoying vibrating noise like so many do.

Also very affordable and trunk mountable with no mods necessary.
