I think it's similar to the way you do the TB. I know you have to unflatten the screws to get them out. And BE SURE TO USE LOCTITE!!!! I've heard of at least one case of a screw comming loose and destroying the engine.

Unless you have or are going to port match everything (a la Demon) there is no reason to optimize secondaries. I would venture to guess near-zero gains on a bolt-on Contour.

Probably better off removing them altogether and using the extra airflow that way. Loads of work for little gain I say.

no. Ive only read of people doing it if they are using FI or doing some weird 3L build. IIRC The car bogs down and you lose torque because of it.

yeah but it will run like crap below 4k rpm unless you are running some source of forced induction

Even though this topic has nothing to do with the original post anymore i'm going to address it anyway.
Q- Without secondaries will I lose Tq down low? A- Yes
Q- Am I an idiot if I just remove the secondaries with no tuning? A- Yes, get over it. Not everyone can be this smart.
Q- If I remove the secondaries and properly tune for it what is the result? A- You lose the wonderful feeling of the secondaries opening... but wait.. that's because you can flow more air at all times... oh yeah.. the tq loss... tuning helps minimize that. And as demon is prone to saying "Who drives below 3000rpm anyway, it's not a tractor"
So anyway.. if you want to remove them do it the right way. If you want to optimize them, go for it. When you get to a certain point every little thing matters. Look at demon's engine as an example at what attention to detail can do for you. Me.. I only put down 184hp with a practically stock 2.5L so what do I know... nothing.. that's right... now go back to fantasy land and enjoy yourself.

Not only tractors have power below 3000 rpms....My beloved dream car 1970 Buick with 510 lb/ft at 2800 rpms. But anywho...we get the point. LOL
