I have never met a hard to remove ford deck before. But my gf's deck is so hard to remove. Any one else have this issue and if so what are other ways to remove it. I even broke down and bought the factory removal keys

Mine was a PITA to get out. Damn near broke the dash trim trying to get it out. There was a rough edge on it that wouldn't allow the HU to slide out. You could always take the screws out of the trim and pull it off with the HU, then you could detach the factory unit from it in a more comfortable location than the front seat. My removal pins were bent to hell by the time it came loose. I then proceded to vent my frustration on the old unit with a 15 lb. sledge. Ahhhhh.....MUCH better! (watch out for flying shards of plastic should you choose to do this!)

Oh maaaaaaan. Tell me about it. I scratched up my dash like a Mofo and ended up applying Polysporin to aid in the healing of my scratched and bleading, and swollen fingers. At points I wanted to bomb the thing out but kept my composure. I ended taking a freaking clothes hanger and bending it out of shape and sticking it in those little holes. That worked alright, but I recommend putting nails in those holes and hitting them in slightly with a hammer. That did the stick for me. The trick is to wobble all 4 hole areas at a time side to side and at the same time find that perfect angle to pull the headunit out..while wobboling it..all at the same time. Yes its a [censored], but for me, i needed bass and some pre outs so it was alll good.

In order for me to remove my factory deck, i removed the trim and it came out way easier than me trying to pull it out with the trim in place

With the removal tools i though you were supposed to spread them outward (towards the sides of the car) as you pull.

I got the DIN tools from crutchfield, but somehow the clips on one side of the radio were broken...cause i couldn't get it to come out. I had to destroy the radio to get it out.

it's seriously hit or miss though...in theory it should be easy, but you can't speak for the ford assembly line, or any previous work that's been done on it.
