What are the specific minimum tools needed to do a quick and dirty road-side belt swap? I just need to provide some info to someone about to make a long trip and I have a feeling the belt could be marginal (don't ask). I seem to recall that space is tight, so some specific tools might be in order.

Also, what's the length and/or part# of the belt. I'll let him to throw that in the car at least!

Thanks!

I wouldn't make a long drive with a marginal belt. The one & only time I needed to change the belt in my Zetec, the idler pulley was worn out also, so belt change meant nothing without the pulley.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Not my car - I agree - better to just replace it.

Can it be R&R'd from the top, or do you need to get underneath the car?

I never used nor understood the purpose of those serpentine belt tools - could you splain?

I think I used a 13mm wrench (the end part goes away from the rest of the wrench some, so it fits down into the pulley) and I had it on the lift.

you need a 10mm to get the splash shield off and a 13mm for the pulley. i found it helpfull when putting the new one on to also have a 14mm to hook onto the 13 for extra leverage. yes it must be done from underneath the car.

15mm wrench, and 2 people with the passenger side wheel off (makes it easier not quicker) I would just replace it before the trip or pay to have it replaced, last thing you need is trying to do a belt change on a highway and have the car get smacked... yes in the break down lane.
