hello, i have the Duratech 3.0L installed in my car, an just purchased a set of SVT cams for the same year as my car, i also understand they are a direct bolt in, but i am not very mechanically inclined enough to install them my self, so i was wondering if anyone was located in Michigan, that could help me install these cams, Of course for a fee. if you can help just drop me a line, or email me at Duratek@sbcglobal.net thank you for all your guys time and hopefully i will be doing business soon thanks

Send Stazi a PM. There are quite a few CEGers in MI that can help you out.

No matter the year on your car, these are not a direct bolt in. You'll have one of two possible issues. The chain pitch changed to smaller pitch circa 2001 and you cannot mix/match the two styles so if you've got a 2001 or newer car, you'll have to buy the contour timing assemblies including arms, tensioners, chains, and crank sprocket. If you've got a pre-2001 taurus it's very possible you've got the waterpump that is driven off of the front end accessory drive and not off the cam like the later model cars. This means you'll have to lop off the cam drive on the SVT cams.
If anyone is doing a 98-00 swap and is interested in a set of ported and polished heads with SVT cams all ready done up for them, I might be selling my set. I need to get the cylinders dressed back up after I've pulled them, but that's about it.

SVT cams would be worthless on a taurus because it will never get full use of the higher end breathing. Don't waste your time. ATX sucks

Yep. You'll also need a tune to take advantage of them. You're still going to get passed by 75% of the cars on the road. I'm in G.R. and would be happy to install them though.

Yeah I read it, but I still don't get it 100%. Can someone get a little more into detail as what I will have to modify and change in order to get the SVT Cams on?
This is what I got so far, replacement of the cams, timing chain (most likely different pitch), and Guides.
What about the camshafts will I need to modify?
