i've had mine for about 45k and no misfire as far as i can tell. does the engine just turn over and not start up right away when it misfires?

A blinking CEL usually follows a misfire.

Possibly you can change out the coil. The coil-wires-plugs on our cars' ignition systems all really go together to create a certain impedance in the ignition system (duh right?) Anyway, the wires may have a different resistance and that combined with your coils (no two coils are exactly alike) and your plugs may be causing a bunch of noise on the coil driver circuits in the PCM. This will cause misfires on otherwise good components. I suggest you try a couple of differen't cheap plugs like non-platinums with those wires and see what happens.
Also, just change the plug gap on the plugs you have. Tighten it up by 5-10 thousands, see what happens and then compare by widening the gap by the same amount....all on the same plugs.
This way you can see what the effect is with just different plug gap, then try a differen't plug if you haven't gotten the problem to go away.

I've had two different coils on the car(nice having extra parts around sometimes), and the problem persisted. I have not however done enything with different plugs. I've been looking for an excuse to justify Magnacores and it's been given to me. The misfire is gone now that i've re-installed teh stock wires.

Josh, try using a different plug, I know I had missfire for the longest time due to Autolite DP plugs with Magnecor 8.5mm..I took Pete (mapoftazi) advice and bought cheap Champion .99 cent plugs and the car runs beautifully

Not always. Josh's misfire was similar to what I experienced in my Sport. The car idled and accelerated just fine in regular traffic, but get it up to freeway speeds (60-70) and floor it in top gear; the engine bogs and bucks. I'm not even sure you could call it a misfire as much as it was just an "ignition problem." The few times I have experienced a blinking CEL with other people's cars (never my own) was when the misfire was so bad that the car could barely hold idle.
