I was IMing a friend and mentioning how much I drive... I actually thought about it this time and came up with this: 1996 Contour GL Zetec ATX: Purchased in Sep 2002 with 114,000 miles Traded in Sep 2004 with 160,000 miles Driving 500 miles a week back and forth between home and a job Delivering pizza for about 10 months Trip from Iowa to Ft Sill, Oklahoma back to Iowa Trip from Iowa to Sheppard AFB, Texas Driving around Texas for about 4 months (in the 100°+ summer) Trip from Texas to Iowa to Montana 46,000 miles I've put on it in 2 years Average of 23,000 miles per year That doesn't include the ~3-4 months it was not driven due to it eating alternators, basic training, and early phases of 7.5 month tech school So minus the time it was sitting, that's ~27,500 miles per year
1998 SVT Contour Duratec MTX: Purchased in Sep 2004 with 75,000 miles Currently June 2006 with 101,000 miles Drove from Montana to Iowa back to Montana (2 times) Drove from Montana to Iowa Drove from Iowa to Wyoming Drove from Wyoming to Idaho Drove from Idaho to Montana Drove from Montana to Seattle Currently driving around in Germany 26,000 miles I've put on it in 1 year, 9 months Average of ~15,000 miles per year That doesn't include ~9-10 months of my tranny issue and me being in the desert So minus the time it was sitting, that's ~26,000 miles per year
All together: 45 months actual time 19,200 miles/year (actual) 31 months adjusted time 27,900 miles/year (adjusted for down time) And that's only from age 18 and up... I didn't keep track of mileages on the 9 cars I had from age 14-17!
So either way I look at it... I drive too much!
Anyway, carry on!

Hey, why not!
Since November, I've driven nearly 10K miles with my Maxima. Keep in mind this was when I was living within walking distance to college and a two-day-a-week part-time job. That's only going to increase with my 2+hour commute (each way) starting on June 26th .. till I find an apartment closer to work.

I do too, I purchased my contour in October of 2003, stored it till January of 2004 when I got my licence, drove it till april of 2006 when I sold it, I sold it with 137K miles on it. I bought it with 100669 exactly. I put roughly 37K miles on it in 2 years time, and I didnt ever leave the state.

With my current job my average is around 12k a year. I believe that is the national average.

let see if I recall correctly
95 Mystique which I got in 00 with 83k now has 174k, so that is about 91k in 6 years. looking at the car fax the car was driven about 30k its first year, sat for a year and had maybe 5k put on it, went about 25k and sat for awhile, with us being the 4th owner
my Contour I got in 2002 with 56k on it and it now has 83k, so that is about 27k in 4 years

I've owned my car for 32 months, it had 41,000 miles on it. . At this time, it has 119,000 miles, which is about 29,250 miles per year. Back when I was in college and working as a pizza delivery driver, it was nothing to do 50,000 miles per year. .
