No garage queens or fresh paint detailing pics in this thread!

Vehicle: 1995 Mercury Mystique
Condition: clearcoat fading/gone in some areas, paint color fading gone in some areas, scratches, rust spots, chips, major swirls, etc.
Last wash: Years
Last wax: Never?

I decided to detail exactly one half of the car (like at SZ 06) to get a true comparison of the results.

Passenger side:
- wash

Driver side:
- wash
- clay
- paint cleaner, Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Cleaner Wax
- polish, Zaino ZPC
- polish, Menzerna Final Polish II
- Sealant, Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

Passenger side:

Driver side:

Trunk, passenger side:

Trunk comparison:

Hood comparison:

Reflection and flakes:

The paint could use a more aggressive polish to get more of the swirls out, but due to the cleacoat being so thin I'm not going to risk it.

As I've said in the past, it's easy to make a car shine - getting rid of swirls is the true challenge!

Here's a sneak peek of what I'm dealing with:

It's cups and cups of coffee and dirt that has been sitting for ~5+ years, and it is everywhere - each floor section, seats, seat backs, center console, etc.

Interior detail/pics to come.

Pete, you should've given that pic an "R" rating as there people here under 18!

So the one side got nothing and the other side got "the treatment", right What are you going to do to the other side though

You might as well replace the carpet, looks as if someone didn't really care about the interior.

You really encouraged me to detail my car. I have the exact same year car, with similar paint problems.

Did you order your products on-line or pick them up at the store?

Wow, I thought my carpet looks bad it looks new compared to that.

Nice shine, I love when people do one side of the car just to show off how it looks after.

Wow, huge difference from when I saw it at Carlisle! As far as the interior goes, definately pull the carpet, and go to the dollar store and get a brush and some laundry detergent, and scrub that baby down with the hose and detergent, makes a huge differnece on even the worst carpets!
