Its the price man. I made -40k this year, and even the 300Q$ difference between some of the setups is key.

Im also kind of concerned now that the car has 81k on it. All this talk of blown motors...

I ordered mine yesterday. I know the consensus on here is they're junk but I don't plan on entering any auto-x's anytime soon. I'm sure they'll work out just fine. Sure beats 107,000 on stock susp, not to mention saving better than 1/2 the price of the BAT kit. In the end unfortunately, even though I love driving it, it's still just a contour and every one outside this forum and above the age of 22 (give or take,) pretty much looks at them as just another car with ground effects and 200 hp which in todays world, aint' all that special.

I will certainly get flamed, but I agree with you.

This car just needs to carry me into residency.

Ride quality and safety is of concern to most people, not just autoxers. If it makes you happy to save a few bucks on struts, then go for it. Don't complain if you lose control of the car one day due to blown struts (extreme example, but it is possible), have a crappy ride, etc. If money is such a great concern, why even lower it? It's just a contour that needs to get you by for a bit longer anyways.

I had a set of GR-2's combined with Aerospeed coilovers (yes that was back in my ricer days ) on my 95 Escort GT and didn't mind them at all. I never had any problems with them and in my mind they aren't that bad, I mean adjustables would have been better but for the money I didn't think they were bad. I paid $288 for all 4 on my Escort. Though I do agree with everyone else that the BAT kit is the way to go on the Contour, if I do the suspension that's the way I'm going.

98.5 SVT E0 Black/Midnight Blue All stock for now except the Cross Drill & Slotted Rotors and the Pioneer/Eclipse/Audiobahn system......more to come in the future.

Thats a good point and one i've thought of also. I promised myself the only two things I was going to do was audio and suspension. I have a terrible habit of blowing money on cars and I can't really do that anymore.

The only way I can justify lowering it is because the stock suspension is liable to wear out sometime in the forseeable future.

I've heard good things about kybs on other cars, but not on contours. They are supposed to be a near stock replacement on contours, which is most likely true. And if it is true, the stockers aren't made for lowering springs so neither are they kybs. I'd use them with stock springs, but after blowing out svt struts with mild lowering springs, I wouldn't dare risk the trouble of it again.

The archives, sans a couple of people would certainly point away from using the KYBs.

As you mentioned they seem to be fine on other cars. I had a set of AGXs on my 300zxtt a couple years ago and it handled like butter.
