i removed the head to replace the gasket. what is a good way to clean the head? just a wire brush??? any types of solvents?

i know someones done this. is sandpaper too aggressive?

Use a gasket scraper to get off all of the gunk, then a straight razor to get it really clean. That's what I did when relpacing my intake manifold.

I don't think sandpaper would be a good idea. Brass wire brush at the most.

Acetone works nice also.
