Can anyone see what's wrong with this picture?

The diff on the left is for a mechanical driven speedometer and the diff on the right is for an electronic speedometer.

That's correct!

I ignorantly did not know that the electronic version existed. I pressed the speedo gear on before hand, and ended up breaking the diff bearing while trying to press it back off.

I have never heard of this "speedometer trigger wheel" ... until today. I wonder in what applications/years it gets used?

So, does anyone know what transaxles used this "trigger wheel" instead of the "speedo Gear"?

The difference with the trigger wheel vs. speedo gear is from a Focus MTX75. No gear on the Focus trans.

Well, I have a '99 2.0L Cougar, 5/98 build date.

The only way I was able to get the trigger wheel part number was to get it off of the actual part. I had to order one since I bent the original.
