I was following that thread too. I've been watching Feinburg closely since Shawn mentioned him - he is VERY underprepped, and every event he's been in since then - including one against Andy - he's been faster than the car would have you think. I wish I was going to nats this year just to see STS2 play out.

BTW, Shawn - dang, I saw Devens PAX! 48th on Sunday? Top quarter at a Tour is pretty sweet, especially in a car that (last I knew) is far from prepped. Have you done more work, or are you focusing on the Driver Mod? It looks like you were a second and half back from Strano in PAX.

BTW, how do you feel you PAX in current STS2 trim vs. ES? STS2 takes more development, but you're not in the car to have in ES.

Nothing changed on my car between Peru, Devens and now.

My tires were worn out enough that I was not able to get a good run on saturday with all the rain but I did decent on sunday since it was dry.

What is stopping you from going out in STS2?

This year at local events I have been a little inconsistent landing anywhere from 1.8 seconds back in PAX to about 3 seconds back in PAX when the car has been running decent (keep in mind we have some top national competitors at our events) See http://solo.wdcr-scca.org/ and look at results. Looking at last year VS this year my best PAX results have been real close (30ish out of 250+ drivers) but I was more consistent last year. I don't know if that is because I was doing so many more events last year or what. I need to get new tires and see how I can do soon. 12,000+ street miles, 200+ autocross runs (that includes 2 local level 3 schools, 1 Evo school, 2 Pro Solo's, 1 national tour, and nationals last year) I think the tires have seen way better days but I am still trying to decide between the 225/45/15 hankook and the 20/50/15 RT-215. I also should have my 15x7.5 slipstreams by about this time next month.

Torsen.

I can't make it to Nats because of school. I'm running ES next year because I really want to run a stock class, and learn r-tires. There are a lot of places I want to play in the next decade, and it's just that ES fits my life right now: it's a cheap way to get a competitve car I KNOW isn't holding me back. Next year I'll have 710s, FSB, shocks, and no excuses. Well, except for the Leather Package and A/C, but I'll have to turn some good times before I can blame 50lbs and non-R suspension for a loss. I plan on making all the "local" Tour events (Devens, Peru, WDC Pro) and Nats as well.

Finger Lakes Region is getting bigger with their new site, so I'll have some real events to run - in Central PA it's only Strano and sometimes Cy Lee or someone making the drive from WDC/Philly that I know are nat'l level. I'm very envious of the crew you have at WDC - lots of talent in lots of classes!

Did you mean 615 or 215? If you can find 215s that are fresh, run 'em. I'd go for the 615 over Hankook based on my research, but as you know it's a lot of guessing and car-dependant stuff, and I'm sure you've read everything I have anyway.

Well played This was a followup from the fourth post in this thread; my apologies for not starting a new one in true CEG fashion.

I only have a third place in the Virginia commonwealth championship in CSP. NC's event is this weekend. That's the extent of my bench racing, unless you want to count the thread that got closed when people were saying that Todd Bowland was slow as pudding. I'm simply quoting Andrew Hollis, without comment. Carry Jim's jock? Naah, I'd rather him come over to the house and help me re-cornerweight my car after I dick with it this winter..

Anything interesting popping into people's heads that this thread on a Contour board has three Miata dudes posting in it?

Nothing interesting. Just a simple fact becoming more apparent.

ES is fun. It can be cheap once you get the car setup (just get some nice revalved Koni's and go with it)

I meant the RT-615 I guess it was wishful typing. I think with a little setup the hankook can be just as good as the falken. Most of the testing I have seen has been with the 205/205 the 225 is actually about the same size as the 205 falken so I think it will compare better. I like that hankook supports the sport unlike falken.

You got kicked off Miata.net so you have to read Andy's posts there and quote them here to talk about it?

Actually, I'm thinking that a Contour is a really cheap way to get a pretty dang nice sports sedan, and a Miata is a really cheap way to get a dang nice sports car. Maybe we're all just broke?

I'd like to note that while the Miata has one of the better chassis available for autocross, the Contour has one of the better engines. I attribute a huge amount of my moderate success to having great power at 3-4k. I can drive anything in 2nd the whole time, and never bog. The Miata? three grand ... three and half... four... five, sixseven REDLINE!
