I have a 98 contour SE, the A/C works great! It is cold as ice and blows hard on max. Yesterday, while driving, I switched the A/C form high to low, and it turned off. The A/C has four modes of blowing......low, intermediate, medium, and high. It only blows on high.

Could this be electrical? Vac line problem?

Thanks for any help!

Search in the troubleshooting forum for " blower switch" recall.

It can also be the "blower resistor".. it burns out. replacement is SIMPLE (5-10 minutes) and comes as a plug in module... about $20(??) from FORD.

others will chime in

Welcome . Very common problem. Blower Resistor Pack. For some years, there is a Customer Satisfaction Extended Warranty. If not covered, then you should be able to change it yourself for about $20.

Read this.

That guy rocks!!!!]

Heres a link to the full size pic.

I could't post the full size pic from work in the other thread because the proxy I use is kinda goofy like that.

Your good to go. It's a really easy fix once you know where the resistor is.

I pulled the resistor pack out this morning....does it look like I need a new one?

Is there any way of fixing it? I am REALLY handy with a soldering iron. But if it is just easier to buy a new one I will go that route.

A new ones anywhere from $12-$20.

I actually found one in the junkyard and the guy never charged me for it.

Your resistor pack looks toast. Definitely go get a new one. Go to a Ford Dealer and see if you qualify for the blower resistor recall. If not, you could just buy the part and install it yourself.
