Those who run 3L Duratecs from 96-99. Which UDP is best?
I've been seeing this Unorthodox Pulley for the Crank. States it's for the 2.5Ls. Although I hear they work on 3Ls as well.
Any input is good input.
Thanks,
Sal

The crank UDP's that are out there don't have a harmonic balancer built into them, which is a necessary item for the longevity of your engine. If you are concerned about the long term health of your engine, just skip the UDP's that are available for the Duratec, plenty of other ways to pick up that little bit of power.

I have a UR crank pulley. You pay shipping. It's a cool paper weight.

Is there a way you can get the Harmonic Balancer on them?
Also, I'll buy the UDP. Lemme know how much.

Kind of defeats the purpose of a lightened UDP if you were to add the blancer weight to the UDP.

Not totally, UDPs also underdrive the accesories too. Granted, at that point, its probably better to just run bigger pulleys on the accesories, lol.

We're talking crank pulley here.

Right, a real crank UDP reduces rotating mass AND reduces the drive speed of the serpentine belt, underdriving the accesories, hence the term UDP, lol. My point being, rather than try to make a crank UDP with the proper harmonic balancer function, simply use the existing one, and put UDPs directly on the accesories. Come on Todd, it isn't rocket science here.

He's asking about the crank UDP. Those of us that have been here know about only using them on the accessories. Hell I have them on both my cars. You are just interjecting the use of UDP on the accessories. He didn't ask about them so I didn't talk about them as you are. I should have brought it up too.
