My method was very similar to this.
After disconnecting everything needed under the hood, we connected the engine hoist to the engine, and jacked it up a little to pull tight. Then we used regular hydraulic jacks on the front jack points, but put a 2x4 between it for extra height. Unbolted the 4 subframe bolts, and slowly lowered the complete subframe with engine/tranny onto the bottom "legs" of the hoist.
Unhook the chain from the engine, and just wheel the complete subframe out the front of the car. Complete engine, tranny, subframe on wheels "to-go".
