I too remember that whole mess. Two years in a row we show up with a pile of 'tours and SHOs, taking the trophy for largest participating club, and then they literally give us the shoulder. I guess having some different cars at a Ford show was a novelty for them at first, but once they realized there was some serious enthusiasm for FWD performance they changed the rules. Literally. I Guess they didn't like having a non-Mustang club showing more enthusiasm and club support then they could muster themselves. I even got a letter from the president of that Mustang club, "apologizing" for the rule changes and saying that, since they were going to be a stop for a national Mustang tour that it would be in their best interest to not include any other vehicles aside from the almighty Mustang. Typical Mustang arrogance. Thing is, that was only supposed to be for one year, 2002. AFAIK, this is the first year they've invited other cars
What's even more insulting is that we were a respectful, well behaved group of enthusiasts who not only brought 15+ cars to their event (at $10 registration per car) but also brought a lot of enthusiasts who may not have been interested otherwise. Whatever... I guess their attendance must be down & their sponsors aren't too happy.
Best of luck to whomever goes; may you get more respect than we got in the past.
Edit::: Just looked at their flyer. When we did the show in 2000 and 2001 they had special classes for 'tours and SHOs, as well as a bunch of other classes for varying cars. Now I see just one non-Mustang class for everything else, but it's stll an "all Ford show"
Geez, think I'm still bitter about that fiasco? LOL
