OK my contour had its water pump explode lol. I think it over heated abit but the head gasket is fine. But the gauge on the dash is stuck at full. Has this ever happened to any of you guys? do yuo think it might be a sensor? what sensor controls the dash temp gauage
Thanks,
Silverchris

Mine is stuck at full too. When I took out the cluster I turned it back down, but as soon as I started it, it began to slowly climb back up to full. Help would be appreciated.

Well on my 98' Mystique it was the closet one to the Waterpump and yes a single wire attached to it.Unscrew it and make sure you have a pan ready to catch some coolant.Hope this helps

hot3dog3lucky3 got it right. It is the Temperature Sending Unit (or a different name, Gauge Sender) you have to change.
