I replaced my VCT solenoid yesterday and after starting the engine I find that at higher RPMS the car starts to surge real bad and lose power. The car starts and idles perfect. I believe it still has the classic symptoms of a VCT promblem. This car has given me nightmares since the first day I owned it.The first thing I would like to ask is about the timing. There is no timing marks. I had to buy a pin to lock out the crank. Im not sure if the crank is suppose to lock where it wont move or if the pin just keeps the crank from turning in a clockwise position. There is not much documentation anywhere about this anywhere. The car starts up real nice but when you bring the rpms up it starts to surge real bad and acts like there is no power like a plugged exhaust would. Does any one know where to find info on this system??????

Well gentleman...it seems ive wasted everyones valuable time. It appears the surging is normal!.Ford incorporates in 1999 and newer cars a govenor protection feature that prevents us from over reving our engines at a stand still. This car runs beautiful until your sitting in your drive way in park and reving the engine.I replaced the VCT solenoid and all is well. No check engine light or loss of power anymore. Thanks again all.

LOL. From your first post, it was hard to determine that the car was stationary with the high RPMs. Glad everything worked out fine for you.
