They look the same...I think I may be seeping some oil. Are they the same? I haev my 2.5 covers on.
Anyone have any experience with either?

They are definately not the same. The 3L valve covers don't have the gasket going around each bolt like the 2.5L gasket does. The 3L gasket may fit in the 2.5L valve cover but you would have gaps around every bolt for the oil to seap through.

Yep. Have to use 2.5 gaskets with 2.5 covers and vise versa.

I just replaced mine this weekend. Talking to my parts guy at Ford, one of the gaskets on my 2.5L are the same as one of the 3L gaskets on a 98 Taurus 3L. The other was a different part number.

The early 3L's with IMRC or split port probably had the same gaskets.

yeah, actually my 01 escape covers bolted up the same and would seal, but used a slightly different retention method to hold them into the cover and bolts. Sealing surface is the same though.
