Hey guys..if I pulled the pan off my 2.5 and noticed the rod and main bearings were bad but no scorching, or scratches of any kind were on the crank could I possibly just get away with buying a set of Clevite 77 race bearings and replacing them to cure my knock that the motor developed?? I have not driven the car since it started knocking and it happened in my driveway.

there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. That is the wrong way. It might cure the knock, it might not...or it might cure it for a little while. Pulling apart the motor and doing a thorough inspection is the only right way...unless you don't care and you just need the car to last a little longer.
