car will be a little louder, you wont get any rasp thats for sure. If your precats are clogged you might as well gut them as they are just killing performance.

well i ran the P0430 twice. and from what i hear running a code more then once makes it a hard code, so i will get put through a sniffer on my next emmissions test so i'll wait until after my next emmisions, then if all goes well i'll gut them and get some mil eliminators,
only one problem though, lets say i gut them, and for some reason i have to be put through a sniffer for something else will i pass emmisions w/out them, cus if i dont i'm down like 800$

I do believe that other shave passed emissions with just the main cat, but why don't you get mil-eliminators, that will solve the CEL and you will pass emmisions
also I am sure you could find some used cats for cheap from someone on the board if you need em

i am for sure getting the mil eliminators, what im saying though is that its my understanding that when a cel comes up more then once for the same problem, its stored as a hard code, at emmissions, even with a mil eliminator, they will see that hard code and send me through the sniffer. and btw the p0430 code is for a precat not a main cat right?

If you are concerned that you won't pass the sniff test without the precats, then don't gut the precats. Just install the mileliminators and be done with it. P0430 is for Bank 2 precat (radiator side) and P0420 is for Bank 1 (firewall side).

That's not my understanding, but if it is, or even if you're concerned that it is, go to autozone and have them clear the codes with their scanner.

I think what is being missed is that when the CEL is on that is a hard code, the code can be pending, meaning it has detected the problem but isn't ready to illuminate the CEL, so if you install MIL eliminators and reset the computer you will be good to go
