been looking for a trans for sis's car.... salvage place told me there are 4 different kinds and should verify with trans i.d. tag, where is it located? or maybe someone might know, 1998 mystique, 2L auto. obviously its a cd4e, but which version and does it really matter? thanks for any help.

Should be a tag on the valve body cover

reason i'm asking if it really matters is because every salvage yard says only the 98 model year will work in her 98 mystique, and i can only find 99's. only thing i can think of is the vavle body and pcm don't get along in later models but this sounds like horse s#!%. are the later year(99-00) contour/mystique transmissions compatable with the earlier ones (98)????????????????????

I'm sure whatever is on the 98's externally can be swapped over.
