As I travel over lightly rough surfaces, I can hear something that sounds like a muffled banging (as if solid bottles are being bumped together, that kinda noise)

Also, in reverse my transmission vibrates more than any other gear.

I would go for new swaybar links in the front and rear. When all 4 go bad, you get noises all over the car, "KLACK" type sounds. The rear likes to rip the link bushing apart going into the leading rear control arm, after thats done it's metal to metal.

I would go for motor mounts to see if that helps the vibration some.
