I want to lower my car and I was wondering if I could put lowering springs on my stock SVT struts?

I only found one thread searching about this and one person said it was just fine and the other said it sucked.

So would I see a performance difference if I used my stock SVT struts?

If I CAN do this, which springs would everybody recommend?

I found out that I can use them on my stock SVT struts, so I just had that last question...

How good would it work and how would the ride be for a daily driver, and which springs does everybody recommend?

i used h&r springs and they seem to work fine.If you don't align the car soon after, you'll wear your tires down and need to replace the struts anyway.

What do you mean about that? Why would replacing my springs wear out my tires? Also why would I HAVE to replace my struts soon after as well?

Sure you CAN do it, but it'll blow the struts out within months.

And you suck at searching.

agreed with Kremit. The stock SVT suspension, while it rides nice and has really aggressive handling, sucks for durability. Usualy the struts are worn out by about 60K miles... Lowering springs would last a couple of months before the struts are blown. get new struts if you want to lower the car... Your best bang for buck is the Koni Sport kit. Hands down.

Ah thanks for the info. My car has 44k on it now so I guess I'll just get the Bat Kit. Its the cheapest so that is why I am going for it and I've read good about it.

Thanks for the info though.

Conventional wisdom is that stock struts will wear quickly when used with stiffer springs. I'm not sure if it is true, but it is the common held belief.

It is also true that struts that have had a lot of use in one centered position may not hold up long when moved to a different ride height.

Many aftermarket struts that are intended for use with lowering springs are made with more toleration for non stock ride height.

Actual use has shown that moving to lowering springs with old struts tends to shorten their life. I don't know how true this is if you have new stock struts with lowering springs, but there seems to be less failures reported when done immediately to a new car.

So, find a dartboard, post each of the possible ways to do it, and throw a dart and see where it hits.
