As an update and info these are the latest 'Retail' prices from Ford parts for 'stoc' replacement MTX75 transmissions:-
*2000+ V6 Contour/Cougar $2048 PLUS $600 Core charge
*95>97 Contour 'Rod Shift' V6 New, outright, no core
charge $1893
*Focus 2.0 Zetec, 2002> $2448 PLUS $600 Core charge
As you can see and uprated/custom MTX from me is still
a better deal as most of our jobs come out under
$2000.

I'm just over 2k with my TH trans AND new Spec clutch.....and i'm certainly happy with both.

AND They also have a 7% difference in gearing, so you RAISE the top speed on the Contour!! Anybody who has one and is daring enough to take it to a track (of course) and top it out, I want to know the cut off.
