Im having trouble finding the passanger compartment fusebox. The manual saids there is a leaver or button but I dont see anything. I am looking under the glovebox where my feet are. There is a metal box that has a white plasic bracket that is bolted the box in so I dont think that if there was a leaver for it, it wouldnt drop down like it saids in the manual. Does anybody have any pic of it?

the fuse box is on the drivers side under the dash. what it sounds like you are looking at is the pcm on the pass side..

Sit in the driver's seat.. look at your left knee, where it hits the dashboard. The lever is on the inside of the dshboard, right about there.

a black half circle tab that you pull on, and the black bottomed fusebox will release and swing down.

I take it you found the Fuse box. That would be the rectangular thing with orange/yellow letters with the fuse numbers (right in the middle of your pictures). At one end of the fuse box is a hinge. At the other end you should find a black lever if your Contour is a 1999 or newer or a round knob (like a golf tee) if it is a 1996 (or 1995 and 1997). You pull the lever or push the knob and the fuse box will swing down. Post what year your Contour is.

Oh, and welcome to CEG .

Thanks for the welcome and sorry to everyone for being a pain in the you-know-what for not seeing the knob. Its a 1996.

Is the knob above the orange/yellow letters? Ive been pulling and pushing it but nothing. I dont see any round knob.

On the thread posted below, you will see pictures of the 1999 fuse box, on one side is the hinge, on the other side you should be able to see the knob, like an upside down golf tee (for your 1996). I have a 1996 too. Push on the knob and it will release and swing the fuse panel down about one inch. Then pull the panel down a little more and you will be able to access the fuses. IIRC, the hinge is on the side closest to you and the knob is on the side closest to the firewall. If you haven't found it by tomorrow, I will check and post again in the morning with a better description.
