I am by no means a newbie to my vehicle but one place that I have never really ventured (due to lack of a garage the last two years) is the trans.. About 20k ago I switched from stock fluid to a MTL/cocktale. It was all the rave back when I switched but as of the last 4-5k my MTX has been shifting weird.. And now I see that MTL has been shuned by CEG in some ways.. But now my problem is on my daily commute(warm or cold).. If I am in bumper to bumper traffic, some times it is hard to shift OUT OF GEAR.. usually 1st gear into nutral.. I find myself with the clutch all the way down fighting a bit to get it out of gear.. and when I do, I can feel the car shake and there is a slight thud sound.. Also sometimes when traffic starts moving again, I have a hard time getting the car back into gear from nutral.. I have to jam it sometimes.. shifting from gear to gear while accelerating is not an issue. Anybody have a clue on what might be happening? Is it the MTL? am I low on fluid? Also, do we have any tranny lines that run on the passenger side of the oil pan? I have a very slow leak of some sort but I cant tell if its engine oil or tx fluid.. (again, no garage) Im wondering if Im low on fluid due to a leak and that is whats causing my problems..

That would be my first guess, especially since you said you have a fluid leaking! But then, you are the only one who can answer your own question. Check the fluid and let us know, then we can really help you.

Well the trans is on the driver side so I'm guessing the leak is the front timing cover crank seal. It could be leaking from the axle seal. And there are no lines for a manual transmission unless you count the hydraulic line for the clutch. That would be leaking brake fluid.

Its more like a slow sepage, no drips or puddles on the driveway or anything, just a dirty mess on the passenger side of my oil pan but I haven't been able to investigate the cause yet, just wondering if it could be related to my problem. i.e. if my shifting problems are consistant with low fluid.

You description matches the clutch not fully disengaging. Try bleeding the clutch.
