Cleaned my wheels yesterday and noticed that the brake dust was a little bit heavier on my passenger front tire than on the drivers side...should this concern me? Checked the caliper and it's not sticking.

Maybe there is air in the drivers side... causing the driver side to not grip as hard, and the passenger side to grip normally (but take more load).

Most my cars dust unevenly, not sure but I'd say it's a combination of things, the inherent differences between two components (calipers) that occur even though they are supposed to be the same, aerodynamic differences on one side of the car vs the other, vehicle loading etc. I know the last 3 cars I have did not pull, brakes did not stick and yet one side leaves a slight, but noticeable difference in brake dust.

I have observed that often the right side gets dirtier in general. I have also observed that when there is slightly uneven break wear it is usually more so on the right side.

The speculation I have often heard is that the right side of the road, closest to the gutter, tends to throw up more water and dirt and lends to additional wear.

I will only go so far as to say that it is interesting speculation.

On my zetec, I had to replace brake pads on the front because one of the pads on the passenger side was worn way down. That may be a sticking caliper problem so maybe not related but just throwing it in.

Isn't the pass. side the actual driven wheel? Regardless if it is or not, would that make a difference?

I noticed the other day that my pass side wheel has more brake dust/grime than the drivers side, too.
