Well, Im not sure if this is gonna be good for anything but starting a fight again, but we'll continue anyway.

I finally switched over the the RP today from MTL. I havent driven yet so I cant give you a comparison. I literally just finished. Anyway, I got all the old tranny fluid into a empty distilled water jug. I poured a bit out onto some white paper and into another smaller clear bottle.

This fluid is ~1 year old with maybe 10,000 miles on it (max).

First, no strong smell. Smells the same as when I put it in really. This is a good thing for me because as I was trying to get the fluid into the jug the funnel overflowed and it got all over my arm and in my hair. Gross. Luckily I didnt get much in my hair.

Second, its still pretty red and clear. A little dirty, but its used fluid. That was the first thing I noticed on all the fluid on my arm. You can see that in the paper pic too (the splotchy parts are where it started to soak through).

Here are the pics:

The ant is for size reference

I couldnt get a good pic of the bottle, but its clearer than it looks.

So anyway, thats that. MTL was still treating me fine when it was warm but cold it blows and thats why Im moving on. We'll see how the RP does now.

I ran the MTL and I don't think it was ever as smooth as the RP is.

My trans was the one that all the pics are of in the great MTL debate from last year.

I still think it was:
1) Batch related (QA)
2) Trans component related (trans wearing down or excessive abuse.. either way, something to create an abnormal amount of heat)
3) both

If that wasn't true, then I don't think my trans would have lasted 3 years and ~25,000 agressive miles on MTL.

I'm no longer running MTL... I'm just saying that the previous bloated thread about this was by far not very deductive as the anti-MTL people were only concerned about yesterdays MTL and cared nothing for the entire reliability history of MTL since its initial availability. A reaction of the fluid with the case/components was the theorized cause of the trans failures... but was not the cause of the issue. Something had to have changed at RedLine to alter the recent fluids -- origin of the issue?

But whatever... the people who bloated "the" thread that historically like to over-type and over-reply, without reading (in detail) the post they're replying to, didn't care about the big picture... so I guess that means I'm supposed to not care either.

has anyone actually run regular motor oil? rp actually suggests 10w-40 oil for ford mtx using XT-M5-QS spec
WSD-M2C200-C (ford honey). amsoil suggests 5w40 oil with some type of additive added. and blackstones results showed that the ford honey was more of a 15w40 diesel oil. rp recommends sychromax for ford mtx that call for atf. but if ford changed from atf to the honey should the old recommendation be discarded along with fluids that match that old recommendation. after reading that whole thread it seemed we are looking for a fluid that matches the honey as much as possible without ep additives. the amsoil mtf sycromesh was mentioned but everyone seemed to skip over it. its 7.70 a quart which isnt bad. but its a 5w30 so i dont know if thats any good. there was so much talk that the ford honey is a 75w90 gl3 or gl4 gear oil that it doesnt seem this would be a match as a replacement

Just so I know, what are you referring to when you are saying RP?

Oh ok...thanx. Umm, I am prolly going to be changing my fluid tomorrow. I cannot seem to find any of these oils that you are referring to anywhere. I have tried to find the Redline MT-90, the Royal Purple, and just any 75w90 that isn't GL-5. I can't find it anywhere. Where do you guys get it from, do you have to order it online? I went and picked up 3 quarts of Ford Motorcraft Synthetic manual tranny fluid for the MTX-75 from the stealership today. This stuff is correct right? My only question is since this is the manual fluid, I shouldn't need to add the friction modifier correct?
