I have a 98 SE with the 2L Zetec. I need to replace the rear struts and I called the local dealer to get an idea of the shop time to do the replacement. They told me to relpace both rears it would be 3 to 4 hours of shop time. This sounds unreasonable to me. Any comments? What have you all found to be the proper amount of time?

3-4 hours at a shop?! BS. They have mechanical spring compressors. That's the biggest PITA of the job.

a shop with a wall mounted strut compressor could do both sides in under an hour.

I got charged 3.5 hours by one dealership to replace FL strut and then align.

I phoned up my usual dealership tech I deal with and he quoted me book price of 1.5hrs + alignment ... and that would be if bolts were seized from our Ontarian winters & summbers.
So there ya go ... two dealerships quoting different prices, just trying it on.
