I have a '98 zetec with 57k miles on it. My car has been starting and running fine till today. I went to the market and as I went to turn on my car i heard a click coming for the engine. I waited for like a minute and my car started up. Then when I came home it won't start.
My lights and radio turn on just fine. Do I need a new battery?

8 years is a long time for a battery. Could be a starter problem too. But check terminals and wiring from battery to starter. Charge the battery up and test.
Battery test. Engine off, lights on for one minute. Then voltage should be 12 to 12.5.
Alternator test. Engine running, voltage across battery terminals should be 14 to 14.5.

Be careful if you have an automatic transmission, there is a vent hose behind the battery that connects to the transmission. Don't let it get connected anywhere else.
