Does anyone know if I can just walk into Canadian Tire and find the K&N air filter for my zetec or is it more a special item that I need to order?
Through searching I found the K&N part number (33-2132) or at least what I think is the part number.
or is it just a standard size air filter and I'm thinking way too much about this?

I found one for the duratec on the shelf in Part Source. I'd just go in, look for one and if they don't have it, order one.

I would think so, or at least if they don't have it they can scan other CT stock and tell you who has.

thanks guys.
I think I'll run into CT and hopefully it's there. Is the $50 price tag worth it?

If all you're doing is an air box drop-in filter, then no.

yeah its too bad K & N dont do the whole setup for the contour/mystique. All that got is that darned drop in. Such a shame! Best bet is to get one of those CTA cold air setups....

Guess you haven't been around because Chris stopped making Zetec ones over a year ago & the Duratec
ones are now finished too. (you can still get the BAT one for Duratec)

Besides the extra noise, are there any confirmend HP gains going with a cone filter intake on this platform?
Unless the intake goes into the fender I can't see how it woud make any more HP. Actually, on the contrary, the hot air would decrease both the torque and hp.

Here are some tests done back in 2001, mind you it's on a ZX2, but same engine as 1998 and newer Zetec Contours, comparing stock to a couple of basic mods, CTA intake, plug wires and coil pack.
