Monroe is presently offering $20.00, $50.00 & $20.00 discount on their struts resulting from their 90th Anniversary Promotion. I recently replaced my front struts & now the rear ones needs replacing. I am considering Monroes but before purchasing them I am using this medium to obtain feed back on Monroe struts i.e. are they good products & worth buying.
The usual suggestion/comments will be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what you want out of the car. Do you have an SE, SVT etc? And what year? more information makes for more informed advice.

Monroes are often a lower-end replacement for stoock. they do make some decent stuff, decent durability, et al, but not very good for the more enthusiastic driver as a rule.

Peronally, I would avoid replacing two struts with one brand, and two struts with another. If they are valved differently, you can mess up both your ride and your handling.

If you are after a more sporting feel, SVT struts are great on 98+ cars, and pretty economical from Bill Jenkins.

I have the Monroe SensaTrac's in the rear of the car. They have a nice ride, if you're looking for a stock replacement, its a good way to go. I wish I had bought a suspension kit when I did the rear springs/struts. They do have a nice ride and are, IMO a good OE replacement.

Thanks for the response folks it's greatly appreciated. My 'Tour is a 1996 2.0L LX it's in very good condition & I use it as a daily driver to & form work & mostly round town driving therefore stock replacement will suffice for my use. If I purchase the Monroe's it will be the SensaTracs & I intend to purchase all four i.e. front & rear. I was just wondering how they compare to Spax, Sachs etc. sold by BAT.

Monroes will be soft & comfy by comparison - pretty much like the sedate stock GL struts. You should be happy with them - especially if your old ones are crapping out. Check that pricing though as the dealer may actually have a good installed price for some fresh stockers. Some places will rape you on the Monroes.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.
