with modification

An easier choice would be to get headers made for the zetec cougar, these should be a direct fit, though likely much more expensive.

Focus headers require the welding in of an extra piece of pipe. If you want to deal with that, get focus headers. If not, look elsewhere.

Cougar headers will fit fine.

The shorty focus or Escort ZX-2 headers that bolt to your main cat should fit.

Any long focus or ZX-2 headers that replace your main cat will require modification.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Shorty header from a Focus will NOT fit my car without mods. Whilst it works well with the stock cat, my A/C bracket bolts into the head, right where the shorty headers arch upward. I agree with others that the Cougar header is better. I am having the stock cat relocated to where the resonator is currently located. I am also switching my muffler to an OLD SCHOOL turbo muffler. It is cheap and has a lifetime warranty. It might not sound as good as the Magnaflow, but it gives me 30 dollars for flange work on my stock cat!

I stand corrected. Thank you for the information.
