iev had this car for about 2 months now and im trying to figer out y theres a fan on the box at the front of the engine (the box if for the secondery butterflys in the intake) if anyone knows y its there that would be great if not the thins is coming off

It's for cooling the muffler bearings.

ya ive noticed the muffler bearings getting hot thats was its for lol. i did not see the point for it its coming off(the fan is on the box for the secondary butterflys it should not get hot at all wtf how ever owned this car befor me did not know wtf he was doing then thanks guy

If the previous owner added a fan to help cool it off, he did it because that box gets rediculously hot. Does it look like a fan from a computer case? In any case, it's not stock.

That's where you are wrong.


IMRC failure is one of the MOST COMMON failures on the duratec, and its from the INSANE heat that builds up there. Whoever owned it before you knew this, and did a GOOD THING.

Enjoy it, and be glad they knew something that, apparently, you did not.
