What would I need to do to get my car to high 15's-low 16's. It's a (non SVT) '99 Contour 2.5 ATX with 95K on the clock. I've raced it a few times at a lousy track with high temps and high humidity (07/05)and the best it did was a 17.3.I know low-16's/high 15's isnt fast to many of you, but for me it is after having another even slower car for 5 years.I'm looking for easy bolt ons. My car is totally stock. thanks.

are you sure you want to work on an ATX car? its not really worth it because the more power you pu through the CD4E the better chance you have of blowing it up.
If you want to mod: SVT UIM, LIM, TB Headers, Y-pipe, Catback Intake
That should get you there.
And you can get SVT cams if you want too, that'll bump you up to about mid 15's

It all depends on what you want, do you want a straight line drag car thats a blast to drive on the road and all the people look at you? or do you want a car that can handle the corners with ease and is friggen fun to drive?
Basically if you want to drag the car then dont mod the contour, all the money is better spent towards saving for a Fox body, New edge mustang, or a F-Body
If you want to do the corners, save up, buy an SVT and mod that.

Hi, I don't want a straight drag car. I love the way my car drives and handles and it's comfortable. I just want it to have a little more pep in it so it can beat some rice and other cars. (Cavaliers, Z24's, Focuses, etc) Its almost paid off too, so I don't want to get "another car" thanks.

Then go to the Duratec Performance section below and read the FAQ..it has answers for all the common bolt-ons for HP

My car ran a 16.4 @85mph stock. I've got a K&N intake/maf adaptor and heatshield now, along with an optimized TB. I also have an SCT chip that was custom tuned by a friend of mine who is an SCT dealer. This tune is A LOT more aggressive than any chip you will get from just a generic chip. If you can get a dyno tune and have the chip tuned for firmer/quicker shifts you can gain a lot from that alone.
I will have an optimized y-pipe done by spring, have the y-pipe just need to weld it up and am hoping this gets me close to 15's. If not, I think that with a good cat-back I will be there. Then, its time to save up for an MTX swap.
Also, the CD4E, as you may know, isn't the greatest tranny, so make sure you keep up on fluid flushes and definitely consider a tranny cooler if the car gets driven hard.
