Quick question: If I remove my valve cover to clean it, can the gasket be reused? If so, is it a good idea to put some RTV down with it?

I wouldn't. It is only about $7 for a Zetec one. No need for RTV or anything.

if the gasket is fairly new, so with in a year you should be able to reuse it without issue, but they are cheap enough so just get a new one, also no sealers needed, this isn't some old V8 where you need to seal the ends of the intake to the block

While it might not require a sealer I would have some grease or gasket glue handy if you replace the gasket. If you keep the old one it will be stuck on the cover so its no problem. If you replace it you need to fit it into the groves of the cover, not the head, and it tends to sag down everytime you attempt to turn it over to seat in on the head and get out of place.

I never had that problem. I just fit it in, and was sure not to tighten the bolts very hard. I don't think glue is reccommended.

Don't use the sealer. Just install the gasket.

My post about having grease or gasket glue handy still stands. Sure don't use it if your gasket fits like a glove but if its a little on the thin side it will hold at the corners and pressure spots but will not hold in the straight grove. Not all gaskets are alike. Mine was a Fel Pro from O'Reilly and sagged down when you flipped the cover over.
