OP btjohnson911 Newbie B Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 2	hi everyone. i have a 97 contour. tried to replace the cigar lighter (that didnt work). the wires were disconnected on the back of it. can anyone tell me what plugs into what? looks like there is a double plug on one wire and a single plug on another. i tried a couple combinations but just blew the fuse and the dash light fuse. looks like two "tabs" on the back of the new lighter... any help? thanx.

I think the double goes to the 2 tabs where the bulb is and the single goes to the back of the lighter. In the picture I see in the manual it shows 3 tabs on the backside of the lighter. 1996 2.5LT V6 Contour ATX My Tour+help/info pics E0 rims, Gutted Pre-Cats,CTA Custom Exhaust & Intake, Diablo Chip.

Two terminal plug. The ORG/YEL wire is the HOT. It goes to the "main" power connector. Fuse F27. C912A. Single conductor in the shell. If your replacement is an aftermarket, it probably does not have the illumination terminal. If so, make certain the unused terminal/wire cannot short to ground.
