I pondered this exact same thing, and I just went ahead with the Torsen just for piece of mind. And I dont even have a 3L yet. But I figured well might as well do it right once. -tropictour

people generally associate the 3L with someone who is after more power and as a result of the power will beat on it more. If you don't beat on your car, you have nothing to worry about. But if you do hard launches now and then, and do manage doing burnouts here and there, I'd suggest picking up a LSD. Hope this helps...

From Terry...
Things I've seen so far on DIY transmissions that have ended up at HMS:-
*Wrong sealer on trans cases and tower resulting in gobs of rubber inside the trans packing off behind shaft oil seals etc *Wrong replacement bolt used in shift tower shaft with no locking medium(Lowes/Home Depot does NOT have the correct bolt!), usually falls out or breaks...again! *No set up of new Quaife/Torsen diff bearings resulting in diff flopping around in the gear case like a d**k in a bucket! *No sealer or incorrect sealer used on TOB fitting resulting in trans fluid leak into bellhousing*'Shaft' swapping from one trans to another without renewing bearings or setting up pre-loads *Not fitting new circlip on drivers side driveshaft resulting in oil leak, loss of drive, damage to shaft splines and ground up metal within Quaife or Torsen unit*.....the list goes on but I think you get the picture. If an owner wants to DIY on an MTX75 he needs to be damm sure he knows what he's doing and does it 'by the book', short cuts will only cost more time and money to correct. Know your OWN limitations when it comes to an MTX75..& don't kid yourself....!

Well said. It's definatly a BY THE BOOK thing. Don't try and take shortcuts because in the long run they will wind up costing more.
