I installed a new Alpine HU, but did not secure it in the back (couldn't figure out an easy way to do it at the time). Since the SVT has somewhat stiff suspension, CDs skip quite a bit while driving in the city. Is there an easy way to better suspend or cusion the HU so this won't happen?

My Pioneer is secured to the trim... pretty ghetto, but it works very well. It also only skips when I hit a hard bump... and that's with Konis!

You know the sleeve that comes with the HU? Bent the little tabs all around it... they hold it pretty good.

Yeah, get a Clarion w/ Music Catcher...rip 6 CD's directly to the HU. No skipping from flash memory! It also has 45 sec. shock-proof memory, so no skipping at all from CDs. Mine is just secured w/ the tabs on the mounting sleeve.

Does it skip worse than the old factory player you probably had? Make sure your CD's are clean and are not scratched up. I have Alpines, they are skip proof, but you may hit bigger bumps with a harder suspension than mine. A changer will skip less or not at all.

Doesnt sound like your attachment, it sounds like your cd player.
I have a JVC and mine doesnt skip one bit, so i figure you should go get a new head unit.
I recommend the Alpine 9856 becuase of its price and the new IPOD features and offers bluetooth compatibility too.
but thats just me

I had this Alpine from 1994 that we put in my friends Isuzu Stylus XS (you know essentially the same as a Storm GSi, or a tiny car with Lotus tuned suspension... i.e. pretty damn punishing!), never skipped at all... I was impressed.
