overdrive problem

ok, i just recently bought a 95 se atx , it will not shift into overdrive, i have no speedometer. it does not flash o/d lights or a cel. when i was driving it on the freeway i tried turning off the car and turning it back on quickly. then bam it shifted into overdrive. when i started slowing down it down shifted , then as i accelerated it would not shift back into overdrive.can anyone help?

95 s.e. 2.5l mtx ,koni yellows, h&r springs,kkm intake, ddm,custom catback exhaust, spec stage 3 , fidanza flywheel, all 98 svt midnight blue interior. , and much more....

And being a 95 it could either be electrical or mechanical vss....
