i recently purchased 2 brand new subwoofers, and i now need an amp or two to power them. here is the info i have from the sub boxes:
Free Air Resonance (Fs): 27.2 Hz Electrical â??Qâ? (Qes): 0.514 Mechanical â??Qâ? (Qms): 7.807 Total Speaker â??Qâ? (Qts): 0.482 Equivalent Compliance (Vas): 2.33 cu. ft. / 66.0 liters One-Way, Linear Excursion (Xmax)*: 1.15 in. / 29 mm Reference Efficiency (no): 0.249% Efficiency (1W/1m)**: 86.2 dB SPL Effective Piston Area (Sd): 84 sq. in. / 0.0542 sq. m. DC Resistance (Re): 2.47 ohm Nominal Impedance (Znom): 3 ohm Thermal Power Handling (Pt): 750W Driver Displacement: 0.14 cu. ft. / 4.0 liters Net Weight: 45 ibs. / 20.4 kg
any idea what amp specs i would need to power them?

Something between the 500-1000 WRMS at 4 ohm should power them well.
What kinda subs are they? The impedence is 3ohm?

good quality i assume? i was looking to keep the amp "in the family" with the subs (JL 12w7's). but 300 sounds like an excellent deal ~Andrew

Oh wow W7? SHould have guessed that or the W6 with the 3ohm load. They love power!!!!
Wire them down to a 1 ohm load and the amp will put out 1200wrms. 3 year warranty, I had one problem and they sent me a new one before i sent the old out. Seems some people have had problems with them in the past but i have ordered a ton of stuff from them and Zero problems.

The majority of the specs you give have nothing to do with which amp will power them. These specs would go into a box building program to determine what size/type enclosure would perform best with this speaker and estimate the output.
To figure out what amp would work best with them, look for the RMS power handling. Find an amp that puts out up to that much power (again, RMS not peak) and you'll be fine.
I personally prefer to get amps for my subs that are no more than 3x the power of the amps for my mids/tweets so that I get a much more balanced output. Get a sub amp that is way more power than your mid/high amp and you're wasting power and money.
Keep in mind that for typical everyday listening going down the road, the amp (no matter how powerful it is) will be putting out about 15-50 watts. Think of it like an engine... it's nice to have the extra power if you're really going to lay in to it, but for driving around town you don't get anywhere near the capabilities available.
