Hey guys, my GF is looking to get some tires for her 02 Golf. Any good places to get some tires for a good price? She's got GoodYear Eagle LS on her car right now and her back tires still have about 60% tread left. She's looking for 2. Can anyone out there help? Thanks guys.

I personally would go all out and get all 4 replaced.. you only regret it when you get into an accident.. I'm super Happy with my Goodyear Assurances, amazing in rain/snow/dry corners..
They are pricey but I picked them at Whiteoak Tire Sale for $150 each
(installed, disposed of old tires, alignment and balancing, taxes incl.)
but this sale is once a year, other than that Costco usually is a good deal, and the Costco in Brampton carries Micheline Hydroedge..

she's leasing the car, and will be getting a new one in December. Quite honestly, she doesn't ahve a lot of money to change all 4 right now, so I told her 2 should be fine and should last until she returns it. She doesn't drive much, and I think 2 should be fine until then.

They have good noname tires at Costco.. they say they are noname but someone said at one point that they are made by Bridgestone in the Bridgestone Factory and are a good buy.. my dad baught 4 for the Aspire for I think $68 to $75 each.. but keep in mind its a tiny tire :P

And why change the tires if your going to give the car back anyway?? will the dealership charge you for new tires?? or just piece of mind?
If she just needs the car for the summer I wouldn't bother.. unless they are really worn.. if she was keeping the car for a long time I would say go for a good set of 4..

dont waste your time or money, i mean your only in toronto. Not like up around here where your going through huge drifts. Just wait it out.

I have told her that, she says that she can feel her car skidding when she brakes at times, especially when he gets cut off on the road, which happens a lot in TO. In any case, she wants to get 2 for now till she returns the car. I haven't ahd a chance to look at second hand tires, I know a friend of mine got some last year for a good price and he's happy with them. Anyone here have any experince about second had or re-treads?

I buy used tires all the time.
For the money they can't be beat. You may not always get matching sets, but if you seen the 2 michelin x1's and 2 bfg's with bout 85% tred, installed and balanced for $140 for the set... i think you might reconsider used tire buys.
I know there are plenty of you out there who may not agree with me, but if money's an issue (and it always is) you just can't go wrong.
