Keep wanting to gut the precats and get my ypipe modded, but then I realize that the ypipe has a "pin" type thing that that prevents me from removing the ypipe from the cat. The pin kind of holds the one bolt that connects the ypipe and cat together. How do I get it out of there so I can FINALLY get that thing off.

the spring style bolt thingy is really stupid, basically what i did was remove the nuts from the flange, remove the springs and everything, pull off the main cat setup, and then pull off the y-pipe.

Once you get under the car and start doing it it will go easily.

I can get the nuts off the bolt but I can't move that pin for the life of me, and because of that I can't get the spring out or the bolt. I am able to get all the bolts off everywhere else but there....so you are saying take the ypipe and the cat converter off? If that is the case, should I bring the whole thing like that in to have the pipe modded?

i think there is a retaining clip (the clip you speak of) on the y-pipe, i just ripped mine out cause i wasent going to use it anymore, i dunno what you should do. i say just go at her and try to figure out a way to get it off. or just take the y-pipe and cat off in one piece and then work on it.

why in the name of all that is good and holy did they bother to use that thing on there to begin with. I don't see why they just didn't use a a regular bolt and nut like the other side. Maybe I will just rip/torch/dremel it off if there is no real reason why it is on there

id advise against that, its not the best idea, like i said take the y-pipe off the car and remove it as one piece, then just tool around with it inside your house or something.

I ran into a problem 2-bolt y-pipe on Saturday. One bolt nut came off, the other - the stud snap. So after I got the y-pipe off the car, I used a punch anhnd mallet to bust out the broken stud held in with a pin. The pin on the other side came out with vice grips and PB Blaster. I replaced both studs with regular bolt-and-nuts.
