I am going to transfer my system from my old 'tour into the SVT. Do I absolutely need to use an amp bypass kit, or can I simply unplug the stock amp, as it will be out of the equation. I plan on just using the power, ground, acc., and power antenna wires in the car harness.
I hope my question is clear...thanks!

That's pretty much how mine will be. I may run speaker wire from my amps to the factory speaker wire and just splice in there so I don't have to bother with running wire into the doors. Thanks for the reply!

if you're not going to use the stock wiring to power your speakers, then you can just run rca's from your HU to your amp and then new speaker wire to your door speakers. If you're going to use the stick wiring, you'll want to bypass the stock amp, since the one in your HU will most likely be better than that...and from experience with my exploder, the stock amp sounds like doo doo.

I'll run RCA's from my head unit to the amps, then speaker wire from amps and splice into the stock speaker wiring downstream from the factory amp. If I just unplug all power to the factory amp, will I be okay?

why don't you just bring your new wiring straight to the speakers then??

mainly because it's such a [censored] to wire through the little plastic plug. (I am not much for making an easy job hard)
I wired my last 'tour from amp to speaker, and hated every second of it.
Perhaps you could give me some pointers on making this easier?

find your factory speaker wire in the kick panel and un hook it from the speaker in door then hook new wiring to the old and pull it through. simple as that.

yeah i didn't find running new wires all that difficult. I did rip the interior of my car out, but that was because i was installing sound deadener.

How did you connect to the wire to pull through? Solder or butt connector? I would think a mechanical connector would be far too large to fit through.
